Alright, we've got a problem. And we've had a problem, for a little more than a week now. Mice. Yuck. But they're here alright.. somewhere.
Let me rewind to two fridays ago. First Asa woke us up at 3 am. Also, I was sick, terribly sick, couldn't breathe.. oh my sinuses, it was terrible. So at 4 am I went upstairs to find some ibuprofen. But that's not all I found. I saw a mouse and scared my groggy, sick self to death. He was running around in the dinning room. So naturally I spent the next several minutes on top of my kitchen counter. In case you were wondering I eventually sprinted back downstairs safely to my bed. But.. I'm not sure if I fell back asleep after all that horror.
Every night since we have set traps. And there has been some weird activity. The next day we were going to my parents for the night. So we thought, perfect, we'll set all the traps, come back and it'll be caught. Worst case scenario would be no mouse.
Well we were wrong. There are way more worse case scenarios than that. One of which, would be finding all the mouse traps still set and licked clean of their peanut butter. What in the world!?
So here is a summery of our findings:
We caught a mouse in a trap the next night but then we've had more nights where the peanut butter will be gone but no traps set off and nights with no action at all.
The next night one of the traps was gone. Missing. And after a lot of searching we saw a corner of the trap stuck behind the oven. So we pulled it out, expecting to find a mouse on the trap. But no. All that was left of the mouse was a little hand. One mouse hand was caught.
Another night brought finally another mouse death. But he died right next to trap. Not in it, laying right next to it. - And he had all his limbs, so it wasn't the same mouse.
After several other no action nights we found this:
A pool of blood surrounding one of the traps. But NO MOUSE! What kind of mouse could loose all that blood and still get away?
A couple days later, after being away for the weekend we come home, and there is a dead mouse in the hallway out side my bedroom door.
So I've been wearing my flip flops all around the house today, as protection. Somehow they make me feel a little safer. And safety is what I need with all these ferocious mice on the loose.
But seriously, it seems like more mice have been dying around here by natural causes than by all our traps. If you have any advice please pass it along...
I hate mice.
