I've finally got a couple of free minutes that I'm not using to get something done or waisting on facebook.
Life has been busy and good. We made a trip down to Madison to see my brother and sister-in-law, spent a day at Noah's Ark waterpark with my whole family (see photos here), went strawberry picking and made homemade strawberry jam. We've been baking a lot, building lego airplanes and spaceships like it's wartime, Micah took a two week Master's class, watching our friends kids one morning a week, traveling to Bemidji quite a bit to spend time with my sister before she goes back to SC, walked in a parade and also just finishing up Episode IV of our Star Wars marathon.
Lincoln has been obsessed with lego's and Star Wars. He and Micah have been going to the video store every few days and getting the next movie. All he wants to do is "watch a show, eat a snack, drink apple juice, and play". And he's really taking playing to another level. It's pretty neat to see him talk back and forth with his little lego men. The conversations those lego men have are pretty cute. However last night we heard them saying "I'm gunna kill you!" happily to each other... which came to an immediate stop. He had no idea what he was saying and didn't understand why he couldn't say that.. So perhaps Star Wars wasn't the best choice for a 2 year old who's just learning how to talk. And speaking of talking, that's pretty much ALL he does. Non stop. Questions. Talking. Energy. It's been quite overwhelming and hard not to get frustrated with him.
Asa has rolled over once. He's such a pleasant little baby and still cries less than Lincoln. However, ever since our trip to Madison he has not been sleeping through the night. Which has been hard to deal with and has resulted in me rereading the whole sleeping schedule section of my parenting book. We've got to get this kid back. I've got to get my sleep back. I tried to let him cry it out ever so slightly (probably only like 10 minutes) last night and when we woke up this morning he had terrible/bloody looking scratches on his head. Oh it was terrible. I felt like a terrible parent. He must have done that to himself, it's not like we have a cat or anything. My poor little baby. He will be getting his nails trimmed and sleeping with socks on his hands from here on out. At least he's nursing well, so that's a big plus.
Oh and something I forgot to mention in that big list of things we've been doing this summer is between what feels like every open second of those events has been work. My work. I've been working close to 30 hours a week in order to get our big summer project "The Catalog" done. I see my friends at church and it's like "oh I used to be friends with her.. oh I used to get together with her.." tear tear.. Just kidding. But that's what i feels like. All work and no play. I am thankful for Micah being able to take care of the kids so much while he's on his summer break so I can get this done.
Micah's been working out quite a bit lately. We've kind of set ourselves a goal of running the Mud Run coming up in August. It's a 5k. He's been doing a much better job of getting ready for it than I. But again, it's hard with work and something's got to get cut out of my day and better it be the work out then one of the boys.
And I saved the best for last. After 4 months of waiting for our insurance to come through for all the basement damages, yesterday afternoon I got an email from our insurance guy with the final estimates and said that our check is in the mail. Thank. The. Lord. There was just something about owing our contractor and cleaning guy thousands and thousands of dollars that just didn't sit well with me. So, praise the Lord, I can not wait to pay them off and finally move past that whole mess.
Well that's all I've got. Getting this updated is actually a huge relief as well. Lincoln says so many funny things and I've just got so many cute photos that I could just write and post all day. Social media rocks. Maybe I'll get some more photos uploaded. Maybe.
